     Joe received a Master of Education degree from Harding University, Real Estate Law Degree from LaSalle University, Bachelor of Arts degree from Harding University and Associates of Arts degree from Phoenix College. Joe was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an  Honor Society in Education founded in 1911, Kappa Delta Pi encourages high professional, intellectual and personal standards and recognizes outstanding contributions to education. While attending college Joe became a World Class distance runner representing his University, and the United States of America in National and International competition, including the 1968 Olympic trials. In 1992 Joe was inducted into the Harding University Hall of Fame. The Citizen Press Service used clichés like “great competitor” and “super athlete” to describe what they considered one of the school’s all-time best runners in cross country and track and field. Boundless enthusiasm and fierce competitiveness are the hallmarks of Joe’s personality.
 
     Joe served as a secondary educator at Saint Dominic High School and Mercy High School, Dioceses of Rockville Center, Long Island, New York from 1969 to 1974 during which time he received the Outstanding Secondary Educator of America Award. He also served during this time as Athletic Director, English Instructor, Biology Instructor, as well as Head Basketball, Cross Country and Track and Field Coach. Joe also received the “Outstanding Athlete of America” Award for his individual efforts as a distance runner.
 
     Joe accepted an appointment as Director of Sports, (Sports Branch), at the United States Military Academy West Point, New York in 1974. While serving at West Point Joe coached the distance runners and was honored by the Department of Defense, United States Army with the presentation of “The Army Commendation Medal” for meritorious service in connection with the overall mission of the United States Military Academy. Joe established and implemented the “Run for Your Life” program for the Department of Defense.
 
     Joe became self employed as a business consultant and an insurance company owner while continuing his professional running career. On September 30, 1998 Joe received the National Leadership Award from the National Republican Congressional Committee for serving as Co-Chairman of the Committee’s Business Advisory Council which was founded by House Speaker Newt Gingrich. The award stated “You were selected because of all the support you have given us over the years and, in particular, for your help in balancing the federal budget.”
 
   On the last week of August, 2010 organized and founded the Texas Running Center  a Certified USATF competition Club # 26-095 with a mission is to promote the “Running Lifestyle” and give back to the community some of Joe’s coaching and running knowledge he was fortunate to acquire over 50 plus years in the sport.
 
 In addition the Texas Running Center acts as a Professional Sports Agency on behalf of several elite runners that Joe coaches from the United States, Ethiopia and Kenya.
